Brief Job Description:

Position Summary:  Assist cook with meal preparation in accordance with preplanned menus, within established budgets, and in compliance with government and management directives. Act as a lead worker for food service trainees and Center work base learning students.

Job Requirements:

1.      High school diploma or equivalent with limited schooling or training in food preparation and six months experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties and functions of the job.  

2.      Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers’ certificate within 30 days of employment.

Preferred:

1.      Previous experience in commercial or institutional kitchen.

1.      Ability to effectively supervise students.

2.      Ability to work as a member of a team of individuals working towards a common goal. 

3.      Knowledge and aptitude for kitchen and kitchen-related duties.

4.      Ability to develop rapport and positive working relationships with all departments.

5.      Ability to successfully complete all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.

6.      Ability to maintain professional appearance and work presentation.

7.      Ability to meet attendance requirements for the position. .
