Building Automation Systems Technician |
- AUTOMATION TECHNICIAN
BUILDING CONTROLS & SERVICES, INC. is seeking qualified, enthusiastic, and dedicated long term employees to complement their business.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
*Provide a project outcome that meets the specification and the customers expection.
*Provide a quality product that works the first time at the lowest cost with the estimate completed at the required time.
*Assists in installation, maintenance and the troublshooting/repair of electronic/DDC automation systems.
*Works under direct guidance and supervision, receiving general instructions.
*Develop and maintain excellent Customer Satisfaction at all times.
*Provide necessary administrative information in a timely and accurate fashion.
*Understand the scope of work to be provided under the contract.
*Schedule work with Project Manager or Service Coordinator and provide labor to perform work within the sold hours.
*Keep customers (internal & external) satisfied and informed of all activities.
*Must pass the BCS Certified Technician Associate (BCTA) exam within 3 months.
*Must complete required training and pass the selected Technican track certification within 12 months:
1. Network 8000 (BCNWT)
2. LON (BCLT)
3. BACnet (BCBT)
4. Niagara (BCNT)
ESSENTIAL/CRITICAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide operational Check/Test/Start on electronic/DDC control systems and the related mechanical HVAC systems.
*Link and stoke valves and dampers to ensure proper operations and control range.
*Read and understand software and GUI's for DDC controls. Also be acapble of adding on controllers to existing systems utilizing company standard software designs.
*Assist senior technicians in troubleshooting and repairing network problems. Receives general guidance and instructions.
*Must be able to install and backup programming in DDC controllers.
*Must be able to perform complete point to point checkout of DDC controllers.
*Must understand calculations and devices used for air and water flow in HVAC systems. Must be able to setup controls to properly read and display the information. Additionally must be able to properly take readings utilizing balance test equipment. Assist in balancing systems.
*Insure customer's needs are met by providing quotes where appropriate and interating with sales to assist with the problem resolution.
*Perform customer training on systems and controls as per BCS standards.
*Perform assignments following proper procedures per company standards insuring customer satisfaction at the completion of the project. (Minimize callsbacks, target goal of zero.)

*Excellent mechanical aptitude and communication skills
*Failure to get along with coworkers/customer sto the point where morale and productivity suffers is grounds for termination because dealing effectively with people is every bit as much a part of your job as the technicial.
*Performs other related duties as assigned or required, BCS reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
****REQUIRED CERTIFICATION****
Must have completed the BCS CertifiedTechnician Associate (BCTA) Certification
Must have completed one or more BCS Certified Technican Track Certifications
Must have a very good knowledge and application of the top BCS 100+ supported devices.
ADDITIONAL JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
♦Team player within the complete organization. Honesty, requesting and providing support as necessary.
♦Knowledge of HVAC systems, the theory of component operation and overall system interaction.
♦Minimum High School diploma or GED
♦Minimum 1.5 years experience as an Automation Technician T-1 or actual experience performing this level work in our industry. Advanced knowledge of computer hardware and software.
♦Preferred 2-year AAS degree in mechanical or electrical field
♦Preferred experience in computer network operation.
