• Leading the architecture and technical strategy implementation of next generation eCommerce solutions
• Consulting on large scale, complex projects to provide eCommerce integration knowledge and expertise to partners and customers
• Identifying and conducting proof of concepts with emerging online and backend eCommerce technologies that support business drivers
• Establishing relationships across the organization to help facilitate the adoption of eCommerce strategies with a technical emphasis
• Consulting on the use of the enterprise architecture and effectively articulating the rationale behind architectural choices
• Understanding the wants and needs from the enterprise architecture, articulating architecture’s vision and proactively selling that vision across the enterprise
• Engaging technical staff in strategies and initiatives and incorporating the collective expertise and insights into a cohesive and comprehensive strategy and implementation plan
• Driving cost reduction efforts while pushing the envelope on adoption of emerging technologies
• Evaluating 3rd party eCommerce products and to determine potential partnerships, managing key vendor relationships and leveraging relationships with strategic vendors in order to best achieve business objectives
• Establishing formal mentoring relationships with technical team members to assist with training and technical direction
• Using experience and expertise to champion ways to increase productivity and drive more efficiency into processes across Barnes&Noble.com

Qualifications
Job Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• 4-year college degree or equivalent IT industry experience
• 10 years experience in technology development or services
• 5 to 7 years experience evaluating and architecting large scale eCommerce technology solutions – including online site, fulfillment solutions, backend enterprise systems integration, and platform strategies
• Thorough understanding of eCommerce business fundamentals
• Deep knowledge of mature, leading, and emerging eCommerce technology solutions
• Track record of influencing and driving technology change across large organizations
• Proven leadership capabilities, including interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, and analytical skills
• Strong team player who understands concepts of teamwork and team effectiveness
