The Director, Software Development (Digital Education) is responsible for leading the development of technical strategy, architecture and products.
Specific responsibilities include:
Work closely with Project Managers, Product Managers and User Experience while leading a group of software developers to deliver the customer facing client(s) and website experience in support of Digital Education business.
Collaborate with Digital Textbook Product Team to develop roadmap and strategy for future products.
Work closely with business owners to develop project specifications, schedules and prototypes.
Coordinate with cross-functional IT counterparts for delivery of larger digital education solution
Responsible for performance management, staffing and employee development.
Will have opportunity to lead a software development team in a rapid, agile development environment.
Requirements:

8+ years technology experience including hands-on development and management of systems/software development. This should include full project life cycle (i.e., analysis, design/prototyping, development, testing, documentation and deployment). Must have prior experience as a Software Engineer or Software Architect with Microsoft platforms (i.e., C#, .NET, Web Services) in an n-tier environment.

3+ years as a Software Development Manager, Team Leader or similar role.

Strong understanding of software architecture (e.g., multi-tier architecture, performance, reliability and capacity).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Equally effective and influential communicator in formal and informal settings with senior executives, peers, and potential business partners.

Prior experience leading teams in an Agile development environment developing consumer applications strongly preferred.

BA/BS, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science or other technical discipline (e.g., Engineering, Mathematics or Physics). Master’s in Computer Science or Engineering preferred.
