It is recognized as a Certified Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission and, under an affiliation agreement with The Womans Hospital of Texas, brings to its community The Womans Hospital of Texas at West Houston, a three-story cardiac and critical care tower. The Sugar Land Cancer Center and the Sugar Land Diagnostic Center, departments with HCA Houston Healthcare West, are located on the Southwest Freeway at the Williams Trace and Sugar Lakes exit. What you will do in this role: The Chest Pain Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, and maintenance of a comprehensive Chest Pain program that complies with national standards for quality of care for Chest Pain patients as dictated by the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, Society of Chest Pain Centers and governmental regulation for Medicare compliance.- Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.
- Develops, evaluates, and maintains a Chest Pain/ STEMI program that meets and exceeds the recommendations of the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association.
- Assumes responsibility for the ongoing program management for Chest Pain and STEMI across the continuum from the EMS and hospital entry through discharge.
- Serves as a clinical expert and resource assisting to provide patient care services personnel and other health care professionals within the hospital, throughout the continuum, and in the community.
- Promotes and develops personal and professional growth through the development of self and patient care services staff.
- Participates in identifying needs, planning and implementing educational programs within specialty area for patients, families, community groups, and other designated STEMI transfer health care facilities.
- Provides training and education to emergency department nurses and physicians in designated STEMI transfer health care facilities
- Provides for inter-facility, Emergency Medical System, and regional professional staff development, participating in case review, standardizing practice guidelines, and directing on-going education programs.
- Acts as a liaison to the community through facilitation and coordination of heart disease programs.
- Improves the care of heart patients through facilitation and coordination of community education.
- Actively participates in the Regional Mission: Lifeline STEMI System of Care Committee meetings.
- Facilitates and monitors quality data from the STEMI registry and other databases.
- Assumes a leadership role in monthly AMI/STEMI hospital committee meetings.
Qualifications
What qualifications you will need:- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing, BSN required
- Current license by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas
- Three (3) years to five (5) years minimum previous experience in a Hospital setting.
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification
