The Connect U program connects students new to Pima who have participated in a mandatory Registration Session with their classes, their campus, and their peers. Connect U is a 4 hour workshop that is offered year-round in three cycles at five PCC Campuses (Desert Vista, Downtown, East, Northwest, and West) and also online. The Fall cycle is concentrated July through October. The Spring cycle is concentrated January through April. The program consists of 14-16 sessions filled with workshops, tours and activities for new students that are facilitated by current PCC students who serve as FYE Student Ambassadors. Once classes begin, hour will be concentrated on Wednesdays/ Fridays or Tuesdays/Thursdays, depending on the student's schedule. FYE Student Ambassadors will be expected to attend and participate in each Connect U event along with attending training prior to the start of the cycle. FYE Student Ambassadors may also be asked to support other First Year Experience or Student Services initiatives for new students throughout the semester.Connect U FYE Student Ambassadors provide students new to Pima Community College with an introduction to the College. Connect U FYE Student Ambassadors will be responsible for facilitating Connect U sessions across the College on campus and online. They will also support other FYE programming college-wide.**The work schedule for this position is flexible and may include working evenings, weekends, and at** **multiple campus locations, when needed.****Duties and Responsibilities**FYE Student Ambassadors will assist with the implementation of each Connect U session, which may include, but is not limited to:+ Contact students to register, confirm and/or reschedule participation in a Connect U session+ Provide check-in and registration at each Connect U+ Lead a small group of new students in discussions and icebreakers+ Provide tours of the PCC campuses+ Help students navigate their first steps in preparing for college, including answering questions about resources and the student experience at Pima+ Assist students in setting up various digital resources like MyPima, D2L, etc.+ Follow up with students after the Connect U program to answer questions+ Moderate discussion posts for Online Connect U in D2L+ Lead live chats with new students on First Year Experience Facebook page+ Respond to questions as a team submitted to the collaborative email setup for CU Mentors**Leadership and Civic Engagement**+ Assist in the planning and implementation of the Connect U program such as in developing discussion topics, creating and leading icebreakers, and developing campus tours+ Assist in developing and facilitating leadership training opportunities for new students either during the Connect U program or during the Fall semester+ Assist with the assessment and evaluation of the Connect U programs.**General Office Duties**Perform various fundamental office support duties in support of a smoking awareness and prevention grant, to include:+ Answering Phones+ Database Entry+ Sending emails+ Greeting students+ Handing out information to students+ Calling students to register them for a Connect U program+ Responsible for supplies for Connect U programs and restocking as needed**Eligibility Requirements**+ Registered for at least 6 credits at PCC the prior semester, Spring 2019+ Achieve satisfactory academic progress (3.00 GPA or higher preferred).+ Register for at least 6 credits at PCC the upcoming semester, Fall 2019**The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:**+ Experience in student leadership opportunities, service learning projects, college work experience, and/or experience working with high school or college students+ Dependability+ Skills in leading small groups+ Clear and concise verbal and written communication+ Ability to provide superior customer service+ Work coordination and prioritization while performing multiple tasks+ Ability to adhere to College standards and practices+ Development of positive and cooperative interpersonal relationships+ Manage own time and work independently**Benefits**Benefits required by law will be provided.
