The School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University has an immediate opening for a Senior Extension Associate - Thomas P. Golden Executive Director within the K. Lisa Yang and Hock E. Tan Institute on Employment and Disability (YTI) in the Extension/Outreach Division of the School of Industrial and Labor Relations. The Senior Extension Associate is responsible for developing and delivering programs and services that are closely aligned with the strategic mission and core values of the ILR School, and for monitoring quality, impact, and outcomes of education, training, technical assistance, consulting and research activities of the program. The Senior Extension Associate will participate with other academic staff in setting thematic unit goals and will annually set individual programmatic and budgetary goals with the Academic Director.
The Thomas P. Golden Executive Director oversees, with the academic director, the implementation of the unit strategic direction, fiscal administration, and academic staff supervision of the employment and disability thematic program area and monitors quality assurance, impact, and outcomes of the education, training, technical assistance, consulting and research activities of the program. This position reports to the YTI Academic Director.
Senior Extension Associate is an academic, non-tenure track, term position with a three-year initial appointment. The position may be reappointed on the basis of recommendations by the appropriate Academic Director and Associate Dean for Outreach as well as available funding and work.
Key components of the K. Lisa Yang and Hock E. Tan Institute on Employment and Disability include:- The institute conducts research and provides continuing education and technical assistance on many aspects of disability in the workplace with focus on workplace issues, health & wellbeing, community inclusion, data, education & learning, emerging topics.
- Researchers and practitioners at the Yang-Tan Institute (YTI) have helped companies, labor organizations, government agencies, schools, and communities throughout the United States and abroad to accommodate and integrate individuals with disabilities. Our team consults with business and industry, and with policy makers, educators, disability advocates, and rehabilitation practitioners.
- YTI contributes to developing inclusive workplace systems and communities in a variety of ways. Our team engages in research and produces scholarly articles, develops training materials, conducts training sessions domestically and internationally, and offers technical assistance on a wide array of disability-related matters. Our expertise embraces legal mandates and operational issues, providing an all-encompassing perspective that enables us to help transform public policy into practice.
In collaboration with the Academic Director, the Thomas P. Golden Executive Director will provide leadership and management of the unit and for ILR Outreach, working collaboratively with other Outreach Leads on the School's outreach and public engagement. Responsible for providing substantive expertise in state, local and national public policy matters related to employment and disability, participate in grant writing, develop productive relationships with government agencies and other funding organizations concerned with advancing equal opportunities for all people with disabilities and teach in those areas. This role provides opportunities for cooperation with other extension and resident faculty on research, teaching and policy projects that advance ILR's land-grant mission, as well as opportunities to connect with students and alums to promote ILR's unique education and scholarship.
