The analysis of PPP (Plant Protection Products) residues in fruit and vegetable crops is vitally important for protecting animal and human health. Through knowledge of the identity, character and potential toxicity of parent compounds, degradation products or metabolites, regulators can set MRLs and guidance to minimise operator exposure. You can be part of the team that do this at our Shardlow site, in Derbyshire.
The Residue Analysis Laboratory Technician will conduct the actual physical manipulations required to analyse samples. There is a wide variety of methods and therefore techniques required to analyse the samples.
A good working knowledge of some or all of the following techniques would be required LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, GC-ICP, HPLC-uv and GC-FID.
The job responsibilities include:
- Analysing routine samples
- Documenting the procedures and maintaining equipment and environment in accordance with GLP for analytical studies.
- Processing and interpreting data to ensure acceptance criteria have been met and manage the reanalysis of anomalous results.
- Perform method development and method validation.
- Increase theoretical knowledge of analytical techniques by using CHROMacademy.

Education/Qualifications:
- BSc (Hons) in a Chemistry related subject.
- Experience may be substituted for education.
Experience:
- An understanding of health and safety policies, company policies and procedures, and a strong understanding of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
- Strong instrumentation knowledge. HP-LC, GC-MS, LC-MS.
- Familiarity with the workings of an analytical chemistry laboratory.
